Your Conduct and Responsibilities
Grievance If you have a complaint or are unhappy about any work-related issue, talk to your Manager who will try to resolve it with you. If a resolution cannot be reached informally, you can raise a grievance using the grievance procedure. Disciplinary and Appeals We have a disciplinary procedure which is a formal way of notifying an employee that their conduct or performance has fallen below the expected standard. The disciplinary policy and procedures applies to all staff who have completed 24 months continuous service with the business. Any employee who has been formally disciplined as per the policy and procedure has the right to appeal against the decision. Gross Misconduct In certain circumstances employees’ behaviour may be so serious as to affect the smooth running of the business or may pose a threat to the health and safety of other staff or residents. Where an employee is found to have committed an act of gross misconduct or breach of duty, they may be suspended from duty immediately and dismissal may result. Examples of gross misconduct (not exhaustive) include: • Insubordination rendering normal duties impossible • Serious breach of safety rules threatening staff or residents • Theft, fraud, criminal conviction • Breach of time clocking rules • Falsification of sickness • Coming to work under the influence of alcohol or drugs • Act of incitement or discrimination on ground of race, sex, religion, ethnic origin, sexual orientation. • Behaving in a disorderly or offensive manner • Repeated disregard for reasonable instruction from a superior
