NG Healthcare Staff Handbook

Redundancy

Redundancy Should it become necessary to reduce staffing levels the company will undertake to consult, on an individual basis where possible, with all employees who might be affected. Consultation will centre on the issue of redundancy; the selection criteria and the relevant time scales. It will be proactive and involve members of staff and appropriate representatives. The selection criteria will centre on the needs of the business in terms of skills and relevant staffing requirements. Where a redundancy or short time working situation looks set to arise members of staff will be given as much notice as possible of the consultation process - and never less than five working days. The length of time taken to complete the consultation process will depend on the individual circumstances together with the needs of the business; all staff who have taken part in the process (whether ultimately affected or not) will be informed of the outcome in writing and given as much notice as possible of any adverse implications. A statement setting out the criteria for the selection of each individual for redundancy or short time working will be placed in their personnel files and a copy will be made available for each member of staff if they so wish.

Redundancy payments will be based on the statutory requirements prevailing at the time that the redundancy is affected.
